VIDEO: What is ACORN? Why is ACORN Associated With Voter Fraud – Does Obama Have An ACORN Connection

ACORN stands for Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.

ACORN is a liberal Organization that has come to National Attention for its Political Activities. Activities that include questionable voter registration practices and campaigning for liberal candidates. ACORN uses TAX money to fund many of these activites.

Barack Obama was once the Attorney for ACORN. While Obama was Chairman of the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, the CAC provided funds for ACORN’s Voter Registration Activities.  Obama provided training to ACORN workers who are frequently misrepresented as “Volunteers” – ACORN pays for its Voter Registration Activities. ACORN, which receives partial taxpayer funding, uses those funds to conduct solicitations for contributions to Political Campaigns. In Philadelphia alone ACORN has raised over $800,000 Dollars for Barack Obama’s Campaign.

ACORN’S History in Voter Fraud Scandals

State of Washington Voter Fraud

ACORN: The worst case of voter-registration fraud in Washington state history. . A PDF Copy of the Settlement can be viewed at this site – the agreement states that fraudulent voter registrations were gathered and submitted illegally.

ACORN workers were criminally indicted and later concivted of voter fraud. These convictions came as part of a Federal Investigation.  “There is some motive behind it — this is not accidental,” said Ray James with the Kansas City Election Board. Election officials said some of the application cards had false addresses, signatures and phone numbers. the announcement of criminal charges came after the King County Canvassing Board revoked 1,762 allegedly fraudulent voter registrations submitted by ACORN employees.

Feds To Probe Voter Registration Problems, Election Director Calls 15,000 Registrations Problematic, Kansas City election officials say thousands of questionable voter registration cards have been turned in by the same group whose efforts have been criticized in St. Louis. Kansas City election director Ray James said the U.S. attorney and Jackson County prosecutor’s office have been asked to investigate registrations collected by the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, known as ACORN. James said more than 15,000 registrations have problems such as duplicates, questionable or unreadable information, or names, addresses and Social Security numbers that don’t match existing records.

Ohio is Part of Larger Pattern: ACORN’s recent run-in with the Franklin County elections board for allegedly turning in falsified voter registration cards is only the latest in a long-standing pattern of dubious elections practices. ACORN employees have been accused of submitting bogus voter registration cards and forging signatures on ballot initiatives in 12 states since 2004.

In addition to Ohio, ACORN employees have been accused of illegal elections practices in New Mexico, Colorado, Minnesota, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Virginia among others. Here are just a few examples of ACORN’s pattern and practice of fraud associated with their campaigns:

NEW MEXICO                                                                                                          Over 1,000 fake voter registration cards have been turned in in New Mexico and 6,000 cards remain to be examined.

In 2005, during an effort to put an initiative on the ballot in Albuquerque, New Mexico, ACORN employees forged thousands of fraudulent signatures. Following their voter registration drive in 2004, a state Representative stated that ACORN was “manufacturing voters” throughout New Mexico.

Inquiry finds evidence of fraud in election, ballots cast outnumber voters by 4,609. (Thats right, 4,609 votes more then there were voters) Investigators said Tuesday they found clear evidence of fraud in the Nov. 2 election in Milwaukee, including more than 200 cases of felons voting illegally and more than 100 people who voted twice, used fake names or false addresses or voted in the name of a dead person. “Clearly, there is proof that fraud took place in the November 2 election,” Walker said.

Milwaukee’s top election official said Thursday she plans to seek criminal investigations of 10 more voter registration workers, including two accused of offering gifts to sign up voters. Most of the suspect workers appear to have falsified driver’s license numbers, Social Security numbers or other information on voter registration cards, Election Commission Executive Director Sue Edman said. Counting the latest group, Edman will have referred 49 voter registration workers this month to Milwaukee County Assistant District Attorney Bruce Landgraf for possible prosecution. Milwaukee police are looking at the evidence to determine whether criminal charges are warranted against the workers, Landgraf said. All the workers were paid by the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN). Among the latest group, two ACORN workers are accused of offering pre-paid gasoline cards or restaurant gift cards to people in exchange for signing up to vote. The Presidential Election in Wisconsin was decided by 11,000 votes in 2004. The Democratic Governor of Wisconsin has vetoed a “Voter ID Law” that would limit this type of fraud.

Hillary’s Eight Questions For Obama on Rezko – He Hasn’t Answered Them Yet

MEMO: Questions Sen. Obama Should Answer About Tony Rezko

Regarding: Questions Sen. Obama Should Answer About Tony Rezko

The trial of indicted influence peddler Tony Rezko – longtime friend and political patron of Sen. Barack Obama — starts today . Sen. Obama’s name has already surfaced in pre-trial documents submitted by the prosecution and, according to media reports, is likely to surface again as the trial progresses. Democrats deserve the answers to these questions as they consider their votes:

1. Will Sen. Obama release all documents related to his relationship with Tony Rezko, including all documents related to his controversial land transaction?

Howard Wolfson asked top Obama strategist David Axelrod this question on ABC’s This Week and the campaign has yet to respond. [ABC’s This Week, 3/2/08]

2. When, specifically, did Sen. Obama become aware of Mr. Rezko’s legal problems?

On national television this January, Sen. Obama said “no one had an inkling” of Rezko’s legal troubles during the course of their relationship. Actually, it was already widely reported that Mr. Rezko was under investigation for participating in a kickback scheme prior to their controversial land transaction. [CBS, 1/23/08; Chicago Sun-Times, 9/16/05]

3. Sen. Obama has returned money from several individuals who are publicly associated with Mr. Rezko. How much money did Mr. Rezko bundle for Sen. Obama’s campaigns in total, including people who are not business associates of Mr. Rezko? How many fundraisers did Mr. Rezko hold for Sen. Obama? Has there been an internal investigation to determine how many straw donors Mr. Rezko used to funnel money to Sen. Obama?

The Obama campaign has returned money from people who are publicly associate with Mr. Rezko. But they have not revealed who much Mr. Rezko bundled for Sen. Obama in total. The Chicago Sun Times reported that the Obama campaign “declined to say” whether they maintained a list of the money that Mr. Rezko raised for Mr. Obama over the course of his career. [Chicago Sun Times, 1/23/08]

4. Much of the upcoming trial involves Mr. Rezko’s efforts to control state boards as a means to defraud the state government. Have Sen. Obama and Mr. Rezko ever communicated about potential appointments to Illinois boards and commissions? It’s been publicly reported that Sen. Obama lobbied these same state boards to secure contracts for campaign donors. Did Sen. Obama ever confer with Mr. Rezko concerning how to successfully lobby state boards?

The indictment alleges that Mr. Rezko manipulated state government boards to defraud the people of Illinois. At the same time, “Mr. Obama met with three state pension boards,” urging them to give contracts to specific firms. Later, employees of these companies “donated more than $300,000 to help Mr. Obama win his seat in the United States Senate in 2004 and set fund-raising records early in the 2008 presidential race.” [New York Times, 10/01/07]

5. The New York Times reported that Sen. Obama attended a business meeting on behalf of Mr. Rezko to impress potential investors for his business schemes. How many events did Sen. Obama attend on behalf of Mr. Rezko to impress investors? What was his role? Why did Sen. Obama agree to attend?

The New York Times reported in June that “Former Rezko associates said that Governor Blagojevich attended one of the dinners, and that at Mr. Rezko’s request, Mr. Obama dropped in at one for Middle Eastern bankers in early 2004, just as he was starting to pull ahead in the Senate primary. The visits, Mr. Rezko’s partners said, helped impress foreign guests.” [New York Times, 6/14/07]

6. How many times did Senator Obama visit Tony Rezko’s house? What was the purpose of these visits?

The Times of London reports that “The court is also expected to hear from John Thomas, an FBI mole, who reportedly witnessed Mr Obama and Mr Blagojevich making frequent visits to Mr Rezko.” [The Times, 3/3/08]

7. Did Sen. Obama intercede on behalf of Mr. Rezko in any governmental capacity?

The Chicago Sun Times reported that “As a state senator, Barack Obama wrote letters to city and state officials supporting his political patron Tony Rezko’s successful bid to get more than $14 million from taxpayers to build apartments for senior citizens.” They have not said whether there were any other actions that Obama took for the benefit of Rezko. [Chicago Sun Times, 6/13/07]

Several municipal clerks across the state are reporting fraudulent and duplicate voter registration applications, most of them from a nationwide community activist group working to help low- and moderate-income families.

The majority of the problem applications are coming from the group ACORN, Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, which has a large voter registration program among its many social service programs. ACORN’s Michigan branch, based in Detroit, has enrolled 200,000 voters statewide in recent months, mostly with the use of paid, part-time employees.

There appears to be a sizeable number of duplicate and fraudulent applications,” said Kelly Chesney, spokeswoman for the Michigan Secretary of State’s Office. “And it appears to be widespread.”

Chesney said her office has had discussions with ACORN officials after local clerks reported the questionable applications to the state. Chesney said some of the applications are duplicates and some appear to be names that have been made up. The Secretary of State’s Office has turned over several of the applications to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office on Friday declined to confirm whether an investigation was taking place.

In recent years, ACORN’s voter registration programs have come under investigation in Ohio, Colorado, Missouri and Washington, with some employees convicted of voter fraud.

ACORN officials said they were looking into the problem.

“We’ll do an investigation to see what’s happening,” said David Lagstein, a spokesman for the Detroit office. “If it’s really as many as that, it warrants further investigation.”

In Pontiac, where several thousand applications have been submitted by ACORN in the last few weeks for the November election, the clerk’s office is finding that numerous applications are sometimes filed under one name.

“What it causes is a slowdown of our operations,” said Pontiac City Clerk Yvette Talley. “They’re steadily coming in, and we are finding a huge number of duplications.”

Talley said she could not provide an exact number.

Clerks are required to check their records against a statewide database of all registered voters within their jurisdiction, so it would be unlikely that duplications would allow voters to cast their votes more than once, Talley said.

“We catch them all, but it’s taking up a lot of our time,” she said.

In Oak Park, clerk Sandra Gadd said they have been seeing “lots of duplication” from ACORN in recent months but were reassured by ACORN officials that the group was working to correct the problem.

“They’ve been very cooperative,” Gadd said. “I spoke with them this week. They called me, and they’re willing to go door-to-door to do whatever they have to do to take care of this.”

ACORN is the nation’s largest community organization for low- and moderate-income families. Created more than 30 years ago, it has branches in 100 cities and claims 350,000 families as members. It works to help create affordable housing and health care, and to improve job conditions and neighborhood schools.

Lagstein said ACORN’s Detroit office has hired dozens of employees for the voter registration program and that any problems likely stem from sloppiness or incompetence — not an intent to let people vote more than once.

“We’re proud of our efforts to increase voter registration, and we have aggressive training for our staff to make sure the cards are filled out appropriately,” he said.

ACORN has a method to track the workers who filled out individual registration cards, which will allow investigators to question the workers, Lagstein said.

“We certainly do our best to keep the duplications as low as possible, so we’ll have to evaluate what’s happening here,” he said.

“With Surrogates Like These” – A Conservative Commentary on the Obama Campaign Strategy; By FOX New’s Andrea Tantaros

September 12, 2008

For a candidate who has made the concept of change the hallmark of his entire campaign for President of the United States, Barack Obama has mobilized an echo chamber that is reflective of anything but. Policy positions aside, this crucial juncture calls for surrogates who will highlight and bolster the reform message, not negate it.

Webster’s defines a surrogate as a substitute for oneself. If that’s accurate, why is the “agent of change” turning to the same stable of Democratic spinners?

When it was time to pick a Vice President, a commitment to one’s skill set, a partner and a mouth piece, the pick was…Joe Biden? Not only is Biden the furthest thing from change, he is also one word away from the political equivalent of a Janet Jackson “wardrobe malfunction.”

Politicians are prone to word, not wardrobe, malfunctions. And Biden is a repeat offender. Just this week, rather than laud Hillary for her achievement, he admitted Obama should have picked Senator Clinton instead. I couldn’t agree with you more, Joe. And after that sentiment everyone can see why you’re right on this one. Can’t wait for the debates.

When the wheels started to come off Barack’s bus thanks to Sarah Palin’s epic rise with American females he ran to…Hillary Clinton? Let’s get one thing straight. Biden was right. But a symbol of change she is not. Obama dispatched her anyway. She wasn’t good enough for the ticket but she was good enough for a cat fight? Putting a political institution like Hillary, as popular as she may be, to go a few rounds with a peripheral prize fighter like Palin only contrasted the change verses experience argument to Obama’s detriment. To her credit, Hillary was much too smart to take the bait.
Next in the change conga line? None other than Bill Clinton. You know it’s bad when the Obamas are dispatching Bubba. Unpredictable, often off message and a relic of our country’s political past, Clinton adds no refreshing shift in direction and runs in direct contrast to Obama’s alleged “different kind of politics.” Bill is damaged goods from a primary season of Days of Our Lives drama and hits rewind as a reminder of the scandal plagued 1990’s.

When it comes to really profound political friends and allies, we can’t forget the epicenter of political change and diversity: Hollywood. The sprinkles on the icing have been the immergence of Democratic deities like Matt Damon who recently compared Sarah Plain to a bad Disney movie. If Palin equals Disney then Obama’s film genre is Ben Affleck: grossly over hyped, hard to follow, anemic on substance, and poised for a disappointing ending.

McCain, on the other hand, has looked mostly outside of the beltway for his motley messengers: Huckabee, Romney, Rudy, and best of all, Sarah Palin.

Obama interpreted the Webster’s meaning precisely. If surrogates are a substitute for oneself, his team is a clear indicator we’re not poised for change you can believe in, but more of the same we should run from.
