Victims and Villians – Obama’s Health Care Reform Address To Congress Tonight

Obama will pend 30 minutes speaking to Congress tonight, trying to repackage and sell his stale health care reform plans that have failed to sway the American People.

What will Obama say tonight – Here are the 10 main themes he will relay to Congress and try to sell to the American people .

1).  The Public Option won’t impact the availability of Private Insurance. The President refuses to acknowledge this is simply not so. The Public Option will eventually take over the whole marketplace, which is, after all, exactly what Candidate Obama claimed he wanted in the 1st place. Obama wants “everybody in – nobody out” of Government run health care. He has already said so …..

2). The “Public Option” or Government run health care doesn’t lead to health care rationing. Obama will tell us that claims to the contrary are falsehoods. Despite the fact that every “Single Payor” system in the world rations health care – President Obama will continue to deny that fact. As we now know, contrary to the Presidents previous claim, AARP states it has not endorsed this plan.

3). That the current proposals don’t call for death panels – despite the fact that the plan, while not calling the panels “death panels” provides for panels to “set the criteria ” for ” health care rationing” and that the proposal does not guarantee that “age” or “disabling condition” won’t be used as the basis of denying care to individuals. While the President is correct, the proposal does not say “and death panels will deny care” the act does say that panels will be established and that those panels will set the criteria for who gets care and when. This is happening in the “Government run” health care plan in Oregon. Watch the interview of the “Chairman” of Oregon’s Death Panel. The legislation may not call them “death pamels” – but that is what the panels hand out – death. Yes, this woman sucumbed to her cancer and no, the State didn’t reverse its position but instead it continued to deny her care.

4). That the Government Run Health Care Program won’t increase our taxes or the National debt – that it pays for itself ……. that reports from the Congressional Budget Office that the plan will cost Trillions is false ……

5).  That the proposal doesn’t shift payments from Medicare and Medicaid – despite the fact that it does exactly that. $500 Billion will be cut from the Medicaid program or nearly $5,000 for every senior in the Country. ($500 Billion divided by 100 Million Seniors is $5,000 per Senior – how can that amount not be noticed).

6). That the proposed “Government Run Health Care” doesn’t pay for the treatment of  illegals – when it does exactly that …… “Are the American Taxpayers expected to be the HMO to the World?”

7). That “Obamacare” doesn’t allow for the use of Federal Tax Funds to pay for abortions …. even though factcheck.org says this,

“The truth is that bills now before Congress don’t require federal money to be used for supporting abortion coverage. So the president is right to that limited extent. But it’s equally true that House and Senate legislation would allow a new “public insurance plan” to cover abortions, despite language added to the House bill that technically forbids using public funds to pay for them. Obama has said in the past that “reproductive services” would be covered by his public plan, so it’s likely that any new federal insurance plan would cover abortion unless Congress expressly prohibits that. Low- and moderate-income persons who would choose the “public plan” would qualify for federal subsidies to purchase it. Private plans that cover abortion also could be purchased with the help of federal subsidies.”  The President may or may not recycle his “false witness” allegation tonight. http://www.factcheck.org/2009/08/abortion-which-side-is-fabricating/

8). That only special interest groups and Insurance companies are behind opposition to his Health Care Reform ……

9). That Republicans have no alternative – that is right – despite the fact that the Republicans have had 800 amendments rejected by the Democrats – the President will continue to claim that the Republicans have offered no alternatives – 800 rejected amendments including 8 that would have specifically prohibited using Federal Tax Dollars to fund abortions.

Do you believe the White House hasn’t seen this Commercial?

10). The President will also spend time demonizing Republicans, Insurance Companies, Conservatives, The Right Wind and Doctors, demonize anyone who has a different vision.  THE PRESIDENT WILL SAY SOMETHING STRIKINGLY CLOSE TO THIS – “THERE IS NO  TIME FOR ADDITIONAL DELAY- EITHER THE REPUBLICANS JOIN US NOW OR WE WILL ACT WITHOUT THEM”. Ignoring the fact that the American People have spoken out against his plan while knowing full well it is his, Obama’s, party that is blocking meaningful reform. Listen closely, the President is telling the American people that “he knows what is best”.

The Question that will be answered over the next weeks? Will moderate Democrats allow the President to force his extreme changes on the American People without their consent?

Same old movie, same old rerun – just a new time slot!

This has been the Obama storyline to date and Obama will be sticking to it tonight.

Three things you won’t hear tonight:

1). We will embrace the Republican’s suggestion and address tort reform, an idea embraced by the the American People and America’s Doctors.

2). That America’s doctors will be invited to participate in this process and that Obama will pledge to stop demonizing our Doctors as a bunch of greedy individuals who have no interest in our wellfare and are only in medicine to make money by doing unnecesssary surgery and tests. (http://www.takebackmedicine.com/petition , http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Sermo-Announces-10000-US-bw-3617439464.html?x=0&.v=1 ).

More than a bit of exaggeration here,  Medicare pays a surgeon between $740 and $1,140 for a leg amputation. Is the point  “preventaive care” or the fact that Obama doesn’t bother to check his numbers before he makes his claims?

3). That we will open up competition between the existing 1300 insurance companies and let them compete in every state, that we will cut the administrative costs caused by current government reporting, that we will get the Government out of its current position where it stands between patient and doctor, that what is needed is less Government not more Government.

Lastly, you will never hear the President explain why his top medical advisor,  Dr. Ezekiel Emanuel, the brother of  Obama’s Chief of Staff, Rahm Emanuel, is a champion of the movement to deny care to chronically or critically ill patients and let them die, as a legitimate way to reduce medical costs in this Country. The Group in this video is discussing how to organize the so called “death panels” that Obama claims don’t exist.

The Hastings Center, mentioned  in the Video, to which Ezekiel Emanuel belongs is, according to its own Web Site,  “The Hastings Center, founded in 1969, as an independent, non-profit bioethics research institute based in the United States. It is dedicated to the examination of essential questions in health care, biotechnology, and the environment.” “The center’s projects, carried out by interdisciplinary research teams, range from “stem cell politics“, to “globalization” and its impact on health status, to “science in the age of big pharma”. Primary research areas include genetics and biotechnology, health care and health policy, ethics, science, the environment, and international science ethics. The center strives to frame and explore issues that inform professional practice, public conversation, and social policy.

The hidden agenda of the President’s Health Care Reform? Read what his advisors write!

President Obama Are You Deaf – How Dare You Claim There Are No Alternate Health Care Plans

After all his pledges and promises the man is totally deaf …..

President Obama refuses to hear the American People ….

His Democratic Congress has said no to over 800 Amendments offered to improve the current health care proposals ……

Mr. President ….. listen up to what the people are saying ……

This lady is a baker, Mr. President and she has no health care but would like to buy some on her own …. she doesn’t want you or the Government to give her anything. She already knows that when it comes to Government, “there are no free lunches” ……

Mr. President are you or Speaker Pelosi listening ……

Where are the tort reform components to your program Mr. President? Where are the “open market” reforms  to allow all 1300 insurers to compete in every state?

If your program allows people to keep their physicians as you keep claiming, site the page and line number,  please!  I’ve read the bill, there is no guarantee that we can keep our doctors. There is no guarantee we can keep our current coverage, if we have it – exactly where (page and line number) do you say we can find that promise. As to your claim that your single payor plan doesn’t provide coverage to illegals – where, exactly is that promise made (your plan makes no such promise).

Eight separate amendments have been offerred to confirm the fact that your plan won’t provide Federal Tax Dollars to fund abortions and on 8 occasions the amendments have been rejected. Factcheck.org states that your claim that the bill won’t fund abortions is false.

“The truth is that bills now before Congress don’t require federal money to be used for supporting abortion coverage. So the president is right to that limited extent. But it’s equally true that House and Senate legislation would allow a new “public” insurance plan to cover abortions, despite language added to the House bill that technically forbids using public funds to pay for them. Obama has said in the past that “reproductive services” would be covered by his public plan, so it’s likely that any new federal insurance plan would cover abortion unless Congress expressly prohibits that. Private plans that cover abortion also could be purchased with the help of federal subsidies. Therefore, we judge that the president goes too far when he calls the statements that government would be funding abortions “fabrications.”” http://www.factcheck.org/2009/08/abortion-which-side-is-fabricating/

Well, Mr. President, why not step forward and insist that one of the amendments be adopted immediately or do you prefer to continue your fabrications instead? A Harvard trained Attorney correct? Are you trying to mislead us, sir?

How dare you say that the time for compromise is coming to a close ….. you and the radicals within your party plan to take over the American Health Care system and replace it with a Government run program ….. without compromise or input from the American people or their doctors.

10,000 Physicians have told you they oppose your health care reform and that the Democratic proposals fail to address any of their top concerns (the number in opposition at Sermo now exceeds 15,000). http://finance.yahoo.com/news/Sermo-Announces-10000-US-bw-3617439464.html?x=0&.v=1

What are the Doctors top concerns?

1. Reduce the insurance industry’s authority and oppressive control over healthcare processes.

2. Reduce the excessive and misguided government administrative costs (15-40 cents of every dollar spent on healthcare) that require physicians to spend more time on documentation than with their patients.

3. Revisit malpractice reform requiring physicians to practice “defensive medicine” in response to a harmful and costly legal environment.

4. Do not expand Medicaid and Medicare without addressing reimbursement deficits.

5. Limit and clarify the role of non-physician practitioners (NPs, PAs, CRNAs, etc.) in the healthcare process to ensure the proper oversight and decision-making authority from trained physicians.

Mr. President, the doctors are telling you “big government” is the problem not the answer.

Well Mr. President, if I can find these “10 alternatives” to your Government Run, Single Payor program that rations health care – why can’t you or your staff find them?

Alternative proposals have been submitted and new ones are being suggested everyday.

Why can’t you hear the people Mr. President?

Or can you?

Another fabrication Mr. President?

Mr President it is all well and good that you tell these falsehoods to the loud applause of your Union supporters on Labor Day – but Mr. President the rest of us are listening in too …. and we don’t like being lied to.

We won’t be ignored Mr. President.

We don’t like the fact that you are trying to shove your health care plan down our throats.

Listen to the American People, Mr. President,  or pay the consequnces at the ballot box ………….

Mr. President we are on to you ……

Pelosi’s Trojan Horse For Government Run Health Care – The Health Care “Tiggers”

I’m insulted.

Just how stupid do the Democrats think I am?

Pelosi and her Health Care Triggers?

The Democrats are now pushing for a “back door” way to force “Government Run” or “Public Option Heath Care” on America when we don’t want it.

The Democrats simply refuse to listen to the overwhelming majority of American People.

The Democrats less than honest plan?

Pelosi and the Democrats will set arbitrary goals for the health care industry and insurance companies to meet.

Arbitrary goals in cost reduction and reductions in the numbers of uninsured.

Fail to meet those numbers or goals and we will jump in and force Government Run Health Care on the American People.

What the hell are they thinking? We are not that stupid.

How the hell will any of these “numbers” be met when the Democarts keep making up the numbers anyway.

Example: The Dems claim there are 47 million uninsured. The Congressional Budget Office states that some number under 14 million are uninsured. Whose number do we use? Who gets to “certify the count”?

Do they really think we are that stupid?

Lets suppose the impossible happens and all 14 million of the unninsured are added to the rolls of the insured. (Impossible? Not all of the 14 million want to buy insurance and if they are not forced, against their will, to do so, I wouldn’t assume they will voluntarily change their minds and buy insuarnce). But lets assume all 14 million obtain coverage. Won’t Pelosi and her crew claim that their are still “34 million uninsured”? (Subtracting 14 million from the bogus number of 47 million, leaves us with 34 million fictious uninsured. )

As to cost reductions, Pelosi and her crew steadfastly refuse to consider any type of meaningful reform to reduce expenses or allow reductions in cost so that the price of insurance can go down.

Talking about the party of “NO”, the Democarts have said “NO” to over 800 amendments offered by Repbulicans to this Health Care initaitive. 800 amendments and the Democrats couldn’t find even a dozen to agree with.

Who is saying no to change – Who is saying “NO” we won’t listen to the American People.

Many of these amendments have overwhelming, bi-partisan, public support.

Key suggestions the the Democrats refuse to consider:

1). TORT REFORM. Heaven forbid that the country stop spending nearly 20 cents of every health care dollar on defending senseless lawsuits or in practicing defensive medicine. The Democrats gotta keep that moneuy flowing to their Trial Lawyer buddies. The problem runs through the Democartic party all the way down to its roots.  John Edwards is a classic example – pursuing and frequently winning “unwinable lawsuits”. Why do you think they are called unwinable lawsuits unwinable? Because in a just system – the Plaintiff shouldn’t win a dime. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Edwards

2) Stop providing “free” benefits to those here illegally. 15 cents of every health care dollar goes to care for the illegals who  Speaker Pelosi called “patriotic” for violating US laws to enter this Country without the approval of the US Immgration Department. Lets take care of the people who are here leagally and who have paid into the system first. Don’t cut benefits for our retirees to pay for those here illegally. The Democrats will tell you this is unamerican – well 80% of America favors such a course of action.

3) Allow Insurers to market health insurance the way auto insurance companies do – accross state lines and with “national” health care insurance products. We have all heard the young business woman speak out at the “Town Hall Meeting” in California where she has only 6 health care insurance companies to choose from – 1300 health care companies conduct business in the US and she has 6 to choose from. The Democrats have restricted access to insurance for decades to benefit there buddies in the industry and wonder why we don’t have competition.

Don’t think that the Democrats really support competition – what they really want is a “Single Payor”, “Government Run” and “Government Rationed” health care system. There can be no competition under such a business model – what they give you and what you pay for it is Government determined. No compeition, no choices.

4). Continue the current Federal prohibition on using taxpayer money to fund abortions. On 8 spearate occassions amendments have been offered to add specific language to the Health Care bill to make sure the American people will not be asked to foot this type of an expense, an expense that 85% of the American public oppose spending Taxpayer money on. That is right – 85%. There are few issues where Americans agree in such large numbers. The Democrats have turned down all 8 amendments. Who is saying “NO”?

Just how stupid do the Democrats think the American people are? Do they think we can’t tell when all they are doing is changing their commercials for the same old product? “Repackaging” they call it.

We, “The People” tell them we don’t want Government Run and rationed health care and what do they do?

Do they start over on their Health care proposals?  No!

Do they look for changes that have bipartisan support? No!

What are they doing? “Repackaging” the same old “Single Payor”, “Government Run & rationed” health care proposals.

Once we figured out that “Single Payor” really meant “government run” and “rationed” health care they tried to repackage the same product as “Co-op” healthcare. Pelosi’s Health Care Triggers are just another way to say, “Okay we won’t force government run and rationed healthcare down your throat today – we will do it in 3 to 5 years”.

What the hell are they thinking. I don’t want the government to run health care or be in charge of denying care ever …. not today, not tommorow and not in 5 years.

I want to see reform, however, under no circumstance do the American people want the Government to run Health Care.

How in the world can you trust people who believe in re-packaging. People who refuse to listen to the voice of the American people.

Tell your Representatives In Congress we see through the “Health Care Triggers Sham” Pelosi has proposed and that our answer is still NO.

Unemployment And 1st Time Unemployment Claims Are On The Rise

Preview of your graph

Preview of your graph

Biden is simply unbelievable. The recession is over. Let us all sing, “happy days are here again”.

I’m just so tired of the Administration’s constant spinning of the economic numbers.

Look, things need to be done, now, to turn this economy around and what has been done todate isn’t working. People’s lifes are being ruined while they play politics

The Question American’s Want Answered: Is there an improving trend in the unemployment rate.

Answer: No. In fact, unemployment and 1st time claims are on the rise.

Last month, the Administration reported, incorrectly, that unemployment had decreased from 9.5% to 9.4%. That number was later revised upward, however, the upward revision was not reported in the press. Today, unemployment is at 9.7% (a 26 year high) and is expected to top 10% before year end and not see any significant improvement until 2011, 16 months from now. Both the Congressional Budget Office and the White House have reported these statistics.

The Unemployment Trend – December 2008 to September 2009.

At the end of December 2008 the unemployment rate was 7.1%. http://www.bls.gov/news.release/archives/empsit_01092009.pdf    1st time unemployment claims for that month stood at 524,000, a number described by the press as “astounding”, “massive”, “devastating”. http://money.cnn.com/2009/01/15/news/economy/jobless_claims/?postversion=2009011509

The unemployment trend: 2008 ended with an unemployment rate of 7.1%. Today’s unemployment rate is 9.7% and is projected to top 10% by year end and to remain above 10% for at least the next 12 months. The unemployment “trend” is still moving upward and even the White House says we should not expect improvement in the next 12 months.

The layoff trend: At the end of December 2008, 524,000 1st time claims were filed. This number grew over the next 8 weeks and “peaked” in February 2009, 6 months ago, at 667,000. Over the next 10 weeks 1st time claims slowly declined to 524,000.

NOTE: The 2009 low of 524,000 1st time claims is identical to the number of 1st time claims filed in December 2008. At no time in 2009 have 1st time claims dropped below 524,000.

Since reaching the 2009 low of 524,000, some 7 weeks ago, 1st time claims have reversed course and are on the increase, now at 570,000 plus 1st time claims in August.

Is there an improvement in the trend of layoffs? No. We entered the year at the level of 524,000 1st time claims. That number grew to 667,000 claims 8 weeks later. 1st time claims slowly declined for the next 10 weeks to that same 524,000 level we had last December – a number that rightly had people in a panic. Over the last 7 weeks the number of 1st time claims has risen again to 570,000. So, while claims are not at all times high, they are, in fact, heading in the wrong direction again. Over the last 7 weeks claims have been on the increase from 2009 lows and have returned to levels well above the levels at the end of 2008.

8 weeks up, 10 weeks down, 7 weeks up again ….. that isn’t a trend and if it is a trend, it isn’t the one being claimed ….

The Administration may have an opportunity to brag about a significant drop in the unemployment rate next month. 1.3 million Americans will exhaust benefits in the next month and be removed from the count. That is correct, benefits exhausted, you no longer count as unemployed. Just hope these politicians don’t figure out that using their accounting techniques, if they cancel all unemployment benefit programs – they can claim full or 100% employment. I can hear V.P. Biden already, “the most prosperous time in our generation – no one is unemployed”.

I’m still waiting for an explanation on how there could be 524,000 1st time claims filed in July 2009 with no increase in the unemployment rate. When 524,000 1st time claims were filed in December 2008, the unemployment rate went up from 6.5% to 7.1%. When 631,000 1st time claims were reported in January 2009, unemployment jumped from 7.1 to 7.6% and so on and so on.

Cooking the books again?

Last month, the Administration reported, incorrectly, that unemployment had decreased from 9.5% to 9.4%. That number was later revised upward, however, the upward revision was not reported in the press. Today, unemployment is at 9.7% and is expected to top 10% before year end and not see any significant improvement until 2011, 16 months from now.

At the end of January 2009 the unemployment rate was reported as 7.6%.  1st time claims at 631,000.

At the end of February 2009 the unemployment rate was 8.1%. 1st time claims at 667,000.

In early February we were promised that if the “Stimulus” was passed unemployment would not top 8.4%. Quite a promise from a group of people who now claim they never read the legislation before they signed it.

At the end of March 2009 the unemployment rate was 8.5%. 1st time claims at 654,000. http://www.nypost.com/seven/03132009/business/jobless_claims_hit_654_000_159284.htm

At the end of April 2009 the unemployment rate was 8.9%.  1st time claims at 611,000.

At the end of May 2009 the unemployment rate was 9.4%. 1st time claims at 623,000. http://money.cnn.com/2009/05/28/news/economy/initial_claims.reut/index.htm?postversion=2009052809

At the end of June 2009 the unemployment rate was 9.5%. 1st time claims at 608,000. http://fidweek.econoday.com/byshoweventfull.asp?fid=437671&cust=mam&year=2009#top

The week ending July 11 2009 the Government reported the unemployment rate was 9.4%*, 1st time claims were at 524,000. The press did not refer to this number as “astounding”, “massive” or “devastating”. In fact, this number is now being hailed as the sign we have turned the economic  corner.

One week later, the week ending July 18, 2009, 1st time unemployment numbers were reported as 557,000.

The week ending August 8, 2009, 1st time unemployment benefits were reported at 561,000.

The week ending August 15, 2009, 1st time unemployment benefits were reported at 576,000.

The week ending August 22, 2009, 1st time claims at 574,000 (Preliminary – prior to revision)

At the end of August 2009 the unemployment rate was reported as 9.7%, with 570,000 1st Time Claims.(Preliminary – prior to revision). http://www.dol.gov/opa/media/press/eta/ui/current.htm

*The July 11th number was later revised upward and with that revision the unemployment rate should have been reported as 9.5% – meaning no change in the rate for the month of July – not a decrease. It was simply a matter of manufacturering “good economic news” in an attempt to improve some politicians poll numbers before the summer recess – there was enough heat over the health care bill and 7 straight monthly increases in the uneployment rate, after the “promise” that the “stimulus” would hold unemployment to 8.4%, it was just to much – so they cooked the books again …..

If you are wondering if the economy “created” 524,000 “new jobs” that month – the answer is no. The Government just “added” make believe jobs, jobs that just don’t exist, to the equation – they call that “adjusting” the equation …….. No wonder the Government has put us $12 Trillion into debt.

The Administration is fudging as hard as they can to prevent from posting that 10% unemployment rate until they see if the can force through this “Healthcare” boondoogle ……. the White House admits that the number is coming ….

Obama’s Speech To America’s School Children – Obama’s History Of Politicizing The Classroom

The Story:

Obama will deliver a national address directly to students on Tuesday, which will be the first day of classes for many children across the country. The address, to be broadcast live on the White House’s Web site, was announced in a letter to school principals last week by Education Secretary Arne Duncan. In advance of the address, the Department of Education has offered educators “classroom activities” to coincide with Obama’s message. Students in grades pre-K-6, for example, are encouraged to “write letters to themselves about what they can do to help the president. These would be collected and redistributed at an appropriate later date by the teacher to make students accountable to their goals.”

Teachers are also given guidance to tell students to “build background knowledge about the president of the United States by reading books about presidents and Barack Obama.”

During the speech, “teachers can ask students to write down key ideas or phrases that are important or personally meaningful.”

For grades 7-12, the Department of Education suggests teachers prepare by excerpting quotes from Obama’s speeches on education for their students to contemplate, younger students will be given pictures of Obama on pages containing “Obama Education quotes” to colour ….

Obama’s critics say the lesson plans and the president’s calls for a “supportive community” are troubling on many levels.

“In general, I don’t think there’s a problem if the president uses the bully pulpit to tell kids to work hard, study hard and things like that. But there are some troubling hints in this, both educationally and politically,” said Neal McCluskey, associate director of Cato Institute’s Center for Educational Freedom.

Among the concerns, McCluskey said, is the notion that students who do not support Obama or his educational policies will begin the school year “behind the eight ball,” or somehow academically trailing their peers.

“It essentially tries to force kids to say the president and the presidency is inspiring, and that’s very problematic,” McCluskey said. “It’s very concerning that you would do that.”

Parents of public school students would also have to pay for that “indoctrination,” regardless of their political background, he said.

“That’s the fundamental problem. They could easily be funding the indoctrination of their children.”

After reading the Department of Education lesson plans for the speech, McCluskey said he noticed several passages that should set off “alarm bells,” including language that attempts to “glorify President Obama” in the minds of young students.

“It could be a blatantly political move,” he said. “Nobody knows for sure, but it gives that impression.”

McCluskey also noted that the lesson plans for young students contain suggestions to write letters to themselves on how they can help the president, but that suggestion is not in the lesson plan for middle and high schoolers — perhaps due to the likelihood of increased political ties at that age.

“You don’t want to see this coming from the president,” McCluskey said. “You don’t want to see this coming from the federal government.”

McAuleys World:

In John F. Kennedy famous quote, “ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country” – Kennedy didn’t ask anyone to consider what they could do for President John F Kennedy ….. Kennedy must be rolling in his grave.

After the kids color the pictures of “Obama Quotes On Education” will the pictures be collected and bound in a “Little Red Book” – wait a minute, that has already been done by a “Great Leader”, correct.(Quotes from General and later Chairman Mao in the “Little Red Book”).

We don’t pledge allegiance to any particular politician or President in this country – we pledge to the Constitution and the concepts it represents …. the Countries that pledge allegiance to individual politicians are all dictatorships, Red China, the Soviet Union and Hitler’s Germany – where the Military was required to pledge individual allegiance to Hitler over the Country or its Government.

This isn’t the first time Obama has tried this tact, using the educational system in an attempt to “sell” his view of America directly to America’s School children. See the following post from October 2008:

Over at RealDebateWisconsin Fred Dooley was contacted by the mother of a Racine Unified School District 8th grade student in Wisconsin public schools about an outrageous thing she found in her son’s school textbook. Apparently, in this textbook supposedly teaching about literature, one of the books being pushed as a perfect example of that subject is Barack Obama’s memoir Dreams from my Father. That’s right, a book by a current political candidate for president is being pushed on our children as “literature.” It also seems probable from campaign donation records that a principle member of the publishing company is a large Obama donor.

One would think that focusing on the ideology of a politician currently running for president would be a bit over-the-top even for our extreme left leaning system of education in this country. But there it is anyway. The book even presents a photo of the Senator at a campaign rally with signs advertising his campaign website address to help better indoctrinate the kids.

Of course, the very first question that comes to mind is this: how wide spread would this story have become if it were a Republican featured in a kid’s textbook?

http://www.stoptheaclu.com/2008/10/15/obama-pushed-on-our-kids-in-grade-school-lit-textbook/

As we now know, “Dreams of My Father” is loaded with self serving half truths and outright falsehoods not to mention references to “chooming” in High School and his drug use, including cocaine, during Obama’s college years ………..

I’ve read “Dreams”, it shouldn’t qualify as literature in anyway but the generic use of the term….. propaganda yes, literature no.

Unfortunately one of the definitions of literature includes the following;

Literature: any kind of printed material, as circulars, leaflets, or handbills, literature describing company products.

America’s children don’t need to be sold product Obama.

Remember this from one year ago …………

or this from 70 years ago …..

The true story of that song was published here, http://www.washingtonexaminer.com/opinion/columns/MeghanCoxGurdon/Obama_indoctrination_in_the_schools_012209.html

The introduction to the song is an outright lie – it wasn’t recorded in a home, it was recorded in a school, as one can tell from the video. The article, published in January 2009, states the following,

“Those who adore him are so wreathed in their own rapture that they seem to have forgotten not everyone shares their joy.  In some local schools, adult enthusiasm for the new president has come perilously close to indoctrination.

That’s what a friend of mine encountered at the private elementary school her child attends.  Stopping by the school one day not long ago, she happened to run into the music teacher.

“I’m so excited,” the teacher bubbled, “I’ve just composed a song for the children!”  The purpose of the song, the teacher explained, was to celebrate the results of a school wide mock election in which – surprise! — Barack Obama had come out victorious.

“And the chorus goes, “Yes We Can!” the teacher enthused.  My friend was stunned.  What was the school thinking, getting children to sing political campaign slogans?

She took her concerns to the school principal, fearful that her objections would be taken the wrong way.  After all, why would anyone complain about a cheerful, positive song?

In the principal’s office, my friend gently pointed out that when we see schoolchildren in foreign countries chanting government slogans we call it political indoctrination.”

The parents of the school children were not contacted nor was permission sought before the children were “taught” the song at this private school ……

then there is this article from Politico from February of this year,

Obama pitches stimulus to school kids”

By NIA-MALIKA HENDERSON | 2/4/09

POTUS on Tuesday showed that he will leave no stone unturned in scouring for votes for his stimulus plan, reaching out to an unlikely constituency: second graders.

Yes, 25 elementary school students at Capital City Public Charter School were treated to a story read by POTUS and FLOTUS: “The Moon Over Star,” by Dianna Hutts Aston, illustrated by Jerry Pinkey. The picture book, published about four months ago, is a tribute to the July 16, 1969, Apollo 11 lunar landing and the inspiration it provides for a young girl to pursue her dreams.

On Tuesday, POTUS entered the room with an effusive “Hello, everybody,” then walked around shaking hands, remarking, “Good to see you guys.”

“We were just tired of being in the White House,” he said, taking a seat with FLOTUS.

After the reading, POTUS asked if anyone wanted to be an astronaut, and one child said yes. “‘What else do people want to be?” POTUS asked, and the answers included doctor, football player and sculptor. One boy wanted to be president. “I think you might make it,” POTUS said. One girl said she wanted to be first lady. “It doesn’t pay much,” FLOTUS observed.

POTUS talked about how great and innovative the school was and how it was a model for schools across the country. And then things turned — serious. Perhaps POTUS thought he was on the Hill? Maybe he thought the kids were Republicans?

In any case, Obama pledged that his proposed stimulus package would “provide billions of dollars to build schools and help with school construction.”

“And so we think it’s really important for the country that we get that bill passed,” he said. (Pool reports indicated no significant opposition among the children.) “But thank you so much, everybody. Appreciate you.” http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0209/18378.html

Never mind the fact that the “Stimulus” hasn’t delivered on any of the promises – what right did Obama have to bring politics into a class of 2nd graders.

Than there was this story …..

My son, who is in 1st grade, came home yesterday saying that he didn’t want to go back to school anymore. So I asked him why? He said that during the Pledge of Allegiance the teacher put up a large image of Obama next to the flag. I asked him if he was sure of this and I suggested to him that maybe the teacher just put up an 8×10 photo of the president. He said, “No, it is a large picture of Obama and when we are done Ms. **** turns off the image.” I also asked if they did this for Bush last year? He again said, “No.” This was my sons first day back to school since before Christmas, he was on a 5 week track break.

My wife volunteers a couple of days each week with helping out with my sons teacher doing various duties. She said that she would come in early this morning to see what was going on. She just got back and reported that this was true and then some. She said she waited out in the pod area and could see inside 3 of the 5 class rooms in this section of school. She said that when the kids stand each teacher flips on the classroom overhead and a full body image of Obama, with six U.S. flags behind him, comes up about 4 feet away from the flag that hangs on the wall. She said that the image has Obama staring straight at you with no facial expressions, just a serious look. I asked my wife if Obama had his hand over his heart? She said that she was so taken aback by this that she didn’t see it. What is worse is she said that all of the kids in each class faced Obama instead of the flag that hangs in the corner. What the heck is going on? This is happening in the Clark County School District here in Las Vegas, Henderson area.” http://www.infowars.net/articles/january2009/280109Obama_worship.htm

If you think that is unacceptable – try this on for size …. it was recorded by a foreign press organization ……

Why hasn’t this person been fired? How did she ever get certified to teach?

How surpising, Obama won a “mock election” in her classroom.

Lets not forget the Obama Video Pledge – recorded for use in conjunction with the Obama speech to students.

This is the original version of the video, the one shown to students in Utah included an introduction by Obama in which he said, “”So let us summon a new spirit of patriotism, of responsibility, where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves but each other.” http://www.deseretnews.com/article/content/mobile/705327260/Eagle-Forum-parents-decry-video.html or here http://www.sltrib.com/news/ci_13249171

While several of the goals are laudible and universally desired …. the discussion is over how to achieve the goals – pledging to meet a goal should be the objective – not a pledge to an individual – history has taught the dangers in doing the later rather than the former. What am I talking about, well lets take the issue of slavery – I certainly hope they are including the millions of people enslaved by communism and the other oppressive regimes of the world, including those currently in power in Cuba and Venezuela to name just two …… How about supporting the preservation of Democracy in Honduras ….. or the issue of Universal Health Care – when they say Universal do they mean Government run and rationed health care? Does stem cell research include embryonic stem cell research? Will getting rid of that car for a “hybrid” put more US auto workers out on the street?  …. the devil is always in the detail …. Adults need to get the details before they make a pledge…. children shouldn’t be confronted with these issues.

OUR CHILDREN SHOULDN’T HAVE TO WADE THROUGH THIS – THEY ARE IN SCHOOL TO BE EDUCATED NOT INDOCTRINATED.

Update: The White House confirmed today, 09/03/09, that the White House did, in fact, work with the Federal Department of Education to design the materials to be used in conjunction with Obama’s planned address to America’s school children.
